The English curriculum at MARYCOVE SCHOOL has been planned in accordance with the philosophical and structural framework of the recent educational reforms and with the overall academic philosophy of the school.
Aims of the Curriculum
The general aim of the English curriculum is to develop students’ abilities to:
• become lifelong independent learners
• problem solve intellectually and pragmatically
• act confidently on an individual basis as well as part of a group
• engage in global communication through the use of the English language
• have respect for one another.
As educators we seek to motivate and raise the awareness of global English to our students in a variety of forms from text types, genres of books, subtitles in movies and songs. Moreover, to teach English to develop their soft skills used in the workplace to individually problem solve any issues they may encounter in the future, to effectively communicate as a team member to their respective collective department and institution. Therefore, enabling our students with the English skills to become productive citizens towards society.
